Pamplin Discussion Series
In our efforts to promote an academic dialogue that continues outside of the classroom, the Pamplin Society sponsors monthly, informal discussion groups between students, professors, and members of the LC community. These discussions draw on the expertise and passion of professors and students right here on campus, and range broadly from Cuban politics to the normative implications of adultery. Vibrant intellectual engagement can happen beyond the margins of a term paper or the walls of a lecture hall, and indeed the intimate setting of these discussions contributes to the richness of campus academics.

Distinguished Visiting Scholar
The Pamplin Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program seeks to enhance academic discourse and curiosity by bringing renowned scholars to Lewis & Clark College. Guest scholars spend the day in the classroom, offering students an chance to interact with a leading scholar in their discipline. In the evening, scholars join the Pamplin fellows and professors for a meal before delivering a lecture to a campus-wide audience. Previous scholars include literary critic J. Hillis Miller.
